Prodigal Coffee was co-founded by Scott Rao and Mark Benedetto, two coffee experts who first met at an SCA Expo in 2017. In 2021, they joined forces to launch Prodigal Coffee based in Boulder, Colorado. Their shared goal was to provide customers with exceptional, high-quality light roasts with a focus on consistency. What sets Prodigal apart from other roasters is their rigorous QC process, where they selectively choose only the best green beans through blind cupping. In fact, their strict protocol requires that the beans score above 87.5 points in order to be purchased. With their unwavering commitment to quality and value, Prodigal places great value on their suppliers' hard work, paying some of the highest average green prices in the industry.
