Paraboot, established by Remy Richard-Ponvert over a century ago, has a team of specialised workers who have inherited generations of leather crafting knowledge. The brand uses the finest quality leathers, most of which are still traditionally tanned in France using techniques such as Norwegian and Goodyear welting. Renowned for their long-lasting walking shoes, Paraboot takes pride in molding genuine rubber soles in their own workshops located in the French Alps, with over 150 operations required per shoe.
This edition of the Thiers by Paraboot for Norse Projects pays tribute to the Kanonbådsskure — the historic gunboat hangars in Copenhagen’s Holmen district. Built in 1820 to store Royal Danish Navy vessels, these timber-framed buildings now house architecture studios and the Norse Projects design studio.
Based on a 1960s Paraboot silhouette, the Thiers design is re-iterated with leather laces and the “Rocade” outsole — a lightweight rubber sole made in France, carefully selected from the Paraboot archives. Crafted with a suede upper, leather lining, and finished with Blake stitching, the Thiers offers a streamlined traditional last with a slightly short and rounded toe.
