Indonesia has been on Origin's radar as an up and coming coffee region for a long time. It’s a location with incredible terroir potential and rapid development, that’s relatively new to naturally processing coffee.
The Alko cooperative is comprised of 400 members based across 320 hectares in the Kerinci District of West Sumatra. This coffee is from lots grown in small coffee gardens ranging in size, based in the shadow of the Kerinci Volcano on the edge of the Kerinci National Park. The high altitude of this location provides the perfect climate for delicious coffee, with rich volcanic soil and the humid climate giving Alko a uniquely sweet, floral profile and a jammy acidity.
