Villa Flor is a 3rd generation farm owned by the Arango family. Mainly producing Tipica and Caturra varieties, the Arango family were interested to work with more exotic varietals.
They were able to contact the Gonzalez family to purchase Pink Bourbon seeds. After cupping the coffee, the Arango family and the Gonzalez family decided to work together; with the Arango family helping with the picking and logistics, whilst the Gonzalez family provided their expertise on how Pink Bourbon should be produced and processed.
The coffee is dried by sunlight, on raised beds to avoid direct exposure. This dries the coffee whilst keeping a large amount of mucilage attached to the parchment. Cherries are carefully hand-picked and sorted a total of 3 times to divide by density and size and to remove defects. Once through the first fermentation process, coffee is depulped again and placed on raised beds. It is left to stabilise- dried, packed and stored on the farm until due for export.
