Magwila AMCOS a group of smallholders located in the Mbozi district of southern Tanzania. The main season here runs from the end of May to July, with trees flowering between September and October.
AMCOS stands for agricultural and marketing cooperative society. The Magwila AMCOS is one of the smaller groups, comproised of 59 farmers who produce about 120 bags of coffee per year.
These farmers tend to the high yielding Kent variety but a combination of older trees, frequent droughts and lack of irrigation in the area means production here is extremely low. On average, just 43 bags are produced by this group annually. Production may be small but the quality here is fantastic, showcasing what people love most about Tanzanian coffees.
Origin selected this coffee is because of its intense berry notes, which formed a flavour profile unlike anything we’ve tasted before in Tanzania.
